
Biography
Ran Wang recently completed his Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where he is now continuing his studies on the Master of Music intensive programme under the guidance of Professor Mark Wildman.
Originally from Chengdu, China, Ran began his musical training at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music at the age of 15. He is also an alumnus of the Oxenfoord International Summer School.
During his time at the RNCM, Ran performed the roles of Il Conte in Nina, o sia La pazza per amore by Giovanni Paisiello and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte as part of the RNCM Opera Scenes. His previous opera work includes ensemble performances in Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus and Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden, both with RNCM Opera.
He also appeared in the Manchester premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s MASS at The Bridgewater Hall.In concert, Ran has performed in London, Edinburgh, Tokyo, Chuncheon, Chengdu, and Manchester, collaborating with conductors including David Parry, Matthew Kofi Waldren, Alec Frank-Gemmill, Rosina Flueckiger, and Clark Rundell. He has taken part in masterclasses with Ann Murray DBE, Matthew Rose, Lucas Meachem, Susanna Stranders, Audrey Hyland, Russell Smythe, David Butt Philip, and Malcolm Martineau OBE.
